The Grateful Dead was an American rock band formed in 1965 in the San Francisco Bay Area.[1] The band was known for its unique and eclectic style, which fused elements of rock,folk, bluegrass, blues, reggae, country, improvisational jazz, psychedelia, and space rock,[2][3]and for live performances of long musical improvisation.[1][4] "Their music," writes Lenny Kaye, "touches on ground that most other groups don't even know exists."[5] These various influences were distilled into a diverse and psychedelic whole that made the Grateful Dead "the pioneering Godfathers of the jam band world."[6] They were ranked 57th in the issue The Greatest Artists of all Time by Rolling Stone magazine.[7]

Senses Fail is an American post-hardcore band from Ridgewood, New Jersey. Formed in 2002, the line up initially consisted of vocalist Buddy Nielsen, drummer Dan Trapp, guitarists Dave Miller and Garrett Zablocki and being completed by bassist Mike Glita. The band quickly issued their debut EP, From the Depths of Dreams maintained a thriving Internet presence.[3] Two years later their debut album, Let It Enfold You was released. In 2005 guitarist Dave Miller left the band and was replaced by Heath Saraceno, and a year later their second full-length Still Searchingwas released in 2006. The album had an energetic sound, and the band participated in many tours in support of the album, including Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos.[3] Bassist Mike Glita left the lineup one year later, Jason Black was accepted as a temporary replacement during the recording of Life Is Not a Waiting Room, which was released in 2008. Black was later accepted as a permanent member, although guitarist Heath Saraceno left the band after their appearance at the 2009 Warped Tour, being replaced by Zack Roach. Their latest album The Fire was released on October 25, 2010 in the UK[4] and elsewhere on October 26, 2010.[5]

NOFX (pronounced "no-ef-ex") is an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California (later relocating to San Francisco).[5] The band was formed in 1983 by vocalist/bassist Fat Mike and guitarist Eric Melvin.[5] Drummer Erik Sandin joined NOFX shortly after. In 1991 El Hefe joined to play lead guitar and trumpet, rounding out the current line-up. The band rose to popularity with its album Punk in Drublic (1994), which was certified gold, and is now considered a classic punk album by fans and critics alike. NOFX's mainstream success was signified by a growing interest in punk rock during the 1990s, along with fellow California bands Pennywise, Rancid, Bad Religion, Green Day,The Offspring and Sublime. Unlike some of those bands, however, NOFX has never been signed to a major label.
NOFX has released eleven studio albums, fifteen extended plays[6] and a number of seven-inch singles. The group has sold over 6 million records worldwide,[7] making it one of the most successful independent bands of all time. The band also broadcasted its own show on Fuse TV entitled NOFX: Backstage Passport.[8]
